Compensation

  • Salaries
    The Hoffmann Institute offers salaries that are competitive. Employees are typically paid every two weeks. In addition to basic pay, under certain circumstances, employees can receive overtime compensation, holiday pay, Sunday premium pay, night differential, allowances, and bonuses.
  • Moving Expenses
    The Institute will reimburse new appointees certain costs for both personal and dependent travel expenses as well as shipment of personal effects up to 15,000 pounds.
  • Annual Leave
    Annual leave is earned on the basis of years of service. Employees are typically allowed to carry a maximum of 30 workdays (240 hours) of annual leave from one year to the next. Employees with overseas service can carry up to 360 hours, and senior positions, up to 720 hours.
  • Sick Leave
    Full-time employees accrue four hours of sick leave per pay period or 13 workdays per year. Unlimited hours of sick leave can be carried over to succeeding years. Sick leave can be used for personal illness, care of sick family members, adoption, and medical appointments.
  • Home Leave
    Full-time employees accrue 15 days (1.25 days/month) of home leave for each year of overseas service.
  • Pension
    The Institute offers an attractive retirement plan which ensures that employees and their loved ones will be well taken care of after their term of employment ends.
Health and Medical
  • Health Insurance
    Employees can choose from a number of health insurance programs that vary in costs and benefits. The Institute pays approximately 75% of the premium.
  • Group Life Insurance
    Through the Hoffmann Employees Group Life Insurance Program, the Hoffmann Institute offers group term life insurance at reasonable rates via payroll deductions with the Institute paying one-third of the cost. Income Replacement, Group Accident Insurance, and long-term care plans are also available.
  •  Medical Services
    The Hoffmann Institute provides a wide range of health programs comparable to those of large corporations, including occupational health, immunizations, and medical examinations for foreign travel, safety training, and vocational and employee counseling services.

Other Benefits

  • Training
    Education and training are encouraged. Employees of the Hoffmann Institute have access to many fine training programs. All new employees are required to attend a basic orientation and most receive on-the-job and formal classroom training through a wide variety of internal courses. Employees may also be sponsored for external university and/or professional training, both full-time and part-time, in programs relevant to their jobs. Cash bonuses are available for attaining a capability in and maintaining competence in certain foreign languages.

    Striking a balance between work and life obligations requires some of the more difficult decisions of anyone's career. The Institute allows for flexibility in scheduling working hours and tours of duty for its employees, including but not limited to a gliding schedule, compressed work weeks, variable day and week, flextime, part-time, and job sharing, if occupational needs allow it.
